Our 3 Favorite Hiking Trails in Eugene.
Living in Eugene means having access to some incredible trails right in our backyard. Here are three hikes we keep coming back to:
Mount Pisgah Summit Trail
This classic Eugene hike never disappoints. It’s a 3-mile round trip, offering a perfect after-school workout with rewarding valley views at the summit. Spring wildflowers make this especially great from March through May.
Pro tip: Take the less-traveled Trail #6 for a quieter ascent through old oak woodlands.
2. Spencer Butte Main Trail
A must-do Eugene experience and our go-to recommendation for out-of-town visitors. The 1.7-mile trek ascent Eugene's highest point at 2,058 feet. The final scramble to the rocky summit gives you 360-degree views of the Cascades and Coast Range. On a clear day (typical throughout the summer) you’re able to see all the way to the snow-capped sisters.
3. Fox Hollow to Spencer Butte
Our favorite route up Spencer Butte starts from the Fox Hollow trailhead. This 2.1-mile trail (one way) offers a more gradual ascent through beautiful forest, making it perfect for those wanting a longer hike with fewer crowds. The trail winds through moss-covered trees and ferns before joining up with the summit trail.
